I can already forsee an issue with trying to do a blog without a digital camera. The time it takes me to develop film, and then sit and scan will leave most of you a few weeks behind the times. Still, I guess it's better than nothing, and for now it's the best i can do, so bear with me.
About a week and a half ago the kids and I went strawberry picking. Our first trip out of the city limits with just me and three. Obviously, we survived! About 45 min. away there is a great little "you pick it" farm, so off we went.
It was hot! Obviously there is no shade around the field (o.k. let's be honest, there isn't much of anything around the field. We were in rural Alabama). But in just under an hour we had 2 heaping gallons of strawberries....YUMMMM!
Felix was a pro at picking, since we had gone last year, and he knew just how to twist the berries gently off the plant and which ones were ready for picking. And i actually think that MOST of what he picked got into the basket. Lily never eats strawberries at home, but she ate a fair share that day in the field and had a great time. Clara, well.... she just slept (which was a true blessing since i was chasing Lily around half the time). All I can say is thank goodness for spray-n-wash because there was strawberry juice EVERYWHERE!
