Pumpkins!

Our neighbor around the corner hosts a pumpkin carving party every year. The Sunday before Halloween we all get together with finger foods and drinks and carving tools and lots and lots of pumpkins. The kids run around the culdesac and play in the creek and roll down the hill that is their front yard. Mostly the parents sit around in the road and carve... Funny how that works out, huh? I did manage to get the kids to stick their hands in their pumpkins... Lily did it once-- then screamed "It's SLIMEY"... at that point she was done. Clara grabbed a good number of seeds out of hers, but she wasn't very thrilled about it. Felix on the other hand dug right in and proceeded to carve his very own pumpkin of his very own design. First year we've given him free reign with the little carving set we have.

Have you ever carved a white pumpkin? They smell like cucumbers on the inside!!! Who knew? Much easier to carve than an orange one-- they are firmer and hold up to the cutting better.

This was right after Lily stuck her hand in the pumpkin and started screaming... :)

All the kids with all the pumpkins...

Mommy was too lazy to get the tripod out last night... So this is what they look like with me laying on the ground in the front yard trying to prop the camera on the sidewalk to steady it.
