What a riot tonight was! The kids had a wonderful time, and we now have enough candy for a small village. We headed over to another neighborhood to be able to join some friends in the trick or treat route. It worked out great because the older kids could take off with the dads and the younger ones could hang back with the moms. The older crew managed to cover twice as much ground in the same amount of time.
Clara and Lily were going strong this year and they had a routine all down pat-- they totally got the whole rule about porch lights being on or off, how to ring the doorbell, how to say trick or treat and thank you. So cute to watch them. And every house that we went to Clara would proudly announce that she was a "monkey with a banana in her pocket"-just in case anyone was unclear about her costume. They were determined to hit as many houses as possible and never complained about being tired-- I think they would have kept going if we hadn't cut them off after 2 hours.
Oh, and on the way home Clara seranaded us with "It must be halloween"-- from the music CD we have... she knows every single word!
