I missed it...

Our game last night was not till 7pm and it was COLD.... Already in the 40s when warm up started and a nice 12 mph wind. So given all those factors I stayed home with the girls and Paul took Felix to his game.

It hasn't been a great season for Felix. He hit a ball the first game first time at bat and then nothing... striking out time and time again. Frustration was starting to set in a little. No one ever complained, everyone always encouraged him... but it's tough being the only kid that can't at least make contact with the ball.

And then, there was last night....The night I missed...

First at bat he hit a foul ball and then struck out (progress, bat and ball made contact)

Second at bat he hit a grounder... nothing big, within the baseline, but he made it to first base and got an RBI! Way to go! His team mate behind him hit a good hit and Felix made it in for a score!!

Post game coach always gives out a game ball to one kid that showed improvement that game, or made a game winning play, etc. etc. There were kids that made much bigger plays last night, but when coach asked the team who should get the game ball they all shouted "FELIX!". I love how they don't think competitively yet... sure they want to win, but they really want to encourage each other... LOVE THAT!

And that is how this came to sit on his dresser....

It reads: Game ball 4/7/09; Dbacks 9 Braves 6; Felix Base hit/RBI Scored run; Good job!

And I missed it....
