Wishing for...

Praying for... SNOW!!!

Or at least they were... Mommy was ok if it didn't come.
School let out early yesterday for the threat of snow and ice. We'll head in late this morning too, but despite all of their hopes....
Most of our snow came in the form of coffee filters...

It's been a really long time since I've made snowflakes from coffee filters... I had forgotten how exciting it can be to open it up and discover your design.

The manic expression on Clara's face when we gave her the little kid safety scissors was VERY disturbing...

Especially after we spent the previous afternoon getting these taken...
Crazy third kid thing... they are SO much more accident prone. Or maybe it's just a Clara thing... she's non stop, all the way up to the point her finger gets _completley closed_ into a door frame. On the hinge side of the door... closed as in the handle clicks into place. ACK! Thank heavens I wasn't actually there to see it (school) and her teachers are amazing and realized quickly what the problem was. And while she would have been stinkin cute in a little purple (our new favorite color) cast, I'm glad it wasn't broken! Even the pediatrician was shocked that it wasn't at least cracked.
And if you have ever been around Alabama children you will realize that a few flurries falling from the sky is a reason to make plans... big plans... because seriously, those few flurries have to add up right? To enough snow to build a fort... to plan a massive snow ball assault on your sisters... to conjure up visions of snow people and snow puppies. Poor kids, they don't realize that it takes a lot more snow that we will ever get here (ok, maybe I shouldn't say ever... I've heard about the big blizzard of 93).
But we got to catch a few flakes on our tongue... and dream of snows to come...
But we got to catch a few flakes on our tongue... and dream of snows to come...
But when it turned to sleet we opted to come inside...
Sorry kids, I know you really wanted that snow fort, but eventually you are going to realize that the part of the country we live in shuts down for flurries... And that flurries don't really count as snow. What can I say?
