Late birthday...

What a weekend!! Breakfast out, visiting a local art show, work in the yard--check out my cute helpers



The flower bed is not quite finished--still have to dig some holes, but I'll post a picture of that once I get it just right! I'm so excited!


And while we were working in the yard, Paul and Felix were working on a project of their own. I love my hubby--he's always willing to tackle the craziest projects for me. I saw something like this months ago online and fell in love....



Know what it is???


This gives new meaning to the words -memo board-. It's an old piece of tin tile, ripped out of a 1920's building that was demolitioned. He scrubbed it down, stripped the paint, repainted and framed it (we just used an open backed frame that we bought at Michaels) and I now have this awesome piece of functional art work! I'm in love with how it turned out! Awesome, quirky... and so cool too. If you want to give it a try, ebay has an excellent selection of old tin pieces for cheap--pick your favorite size--just remember if you want to use a predone frame, they come in certain sizes


We are also getting really good at doing birthdays a day late in this house. Seems to be our new tradition... Saturday was jam packed with fun family time and then a work function for Paul that night, so we didn't get to birthday cake until Sunday afternoon...



There was so much excitement over the cake--

This time Clara didn't try to claim it as her own though. And they spent a lot of time reminding me how old I am... Kids, they don't miss a thing :).

Forgive me--I had been digging in the dirt all day. At least they warned me of the smudges across my forehead before we snapped the pictures...

And then---her dad gives her the blue balloon.... The only thing worse that blue icing is black icing in my opinion... Clara the smurf had a bath shortly after this picture was taken.

Another year comes to a close--Life just keeps getting better and better!!
